MegaBowl

Friday 7th January saw the first MegaBowl event at Sorrento Bowling Club with 28 players (pictured above) entering to try their luck. A large group of spectators filled the balcony, watching to get a better idea of how the event works.

With only bowl and one opponent, it really was a game of draw bowls and tactics. One by one, some of the fancied names were eliminated, opening the door for less fancied entrants to progress through each round. With Kevin Coffey on the microphone, his banter livening up the party, the oohs, aahs and laughter from the crowd were common.

The final came down to Ron Rogers and Frank Tyson. Frank took the mat and went long with the jack, his bowl dropping a good 5m short.  Ronnie put down his bowl and it slowly trickled down the green, eventually landing just a half bowl in front of Frank’s, giving him the inaugural title of MegaBowler and $110 of the entry moneys. Runner up Frank took the other $30.

Thank you to the Club for donating a $20 bar voucher as a prize each week. On Friday 14th this will be for the craziest hat worn by an entrant. Frank Tyson has also kindly offered a $5 prize for every toucher each week.

If you want to have a bit of fun on the green for just $5, when anyone can win, then put your name on the entry sheet on the board by 5.15pm Friday. Guests and non-bowlers are welcomed.
