Croquet at Sorrento Bowling Club

Welcome to the Sorrento Croquet Club. Being an integral part of the Sorrento Bowling Club, croquet members have full use of the Club’s facilities and are encouraged to participate fully in all aspects of the Club. This includes all social activities, volunteer work around the Club, and special events held by the Club. Details of these can be found on the Home page of this website, which we encourage you to visit regularly to keep up to date with what is happening in the Club.

You will find croquet to be a sport that is a challenging combination of skills and tactics, as well as being a very enjoyable social game.
Your first three sessions of croquet are free and include coaching and the use of the Club’s mallets. We invite you and your friends to come along to meet us, and to try a new sport.

Our motto is: “You are never too young nor too old to play croquet!”

HISTORY (Community Newspaper April 1998)

Sorrento Croquet Club was founded by Geoff Bloomfield in 1998. It was the first croquet club in Wanneroo, and the first in Perth since 1954, to be officially opened. A group of 11 would-be players moved from a site in Wanneroo to a flatter site near the Joondalup train station. However, they found that croquet and kangaroos did not mix, and moved again to a club in Floreat, followed by a move to Leederville. It finally found its current home in Percy Doyle Reserve in February 1999, when it became the Sorrento Croquet Club.
