| Six Bowlers from Sorrento, Paul Knight, Barney Fleiser, Bruce Eagles, Jan Konig, JJ Landman and Matt Sharrett made the journey North to Geraldton to take part in the 77th Annual Long Weekend Carnival which was attended by 36 teams from clubs around W.A.
The carnival ran over 3 days and involved two games of fours over 16 ends and one game of split pairs over 8 ends each day.
After day one Bruce’s team of Matt, JJ and Jan found themselves in 4th position recording three victories and Paul and Barney’s composite team down the ladder and losing two close games.
Day two saw Bruce’s team once again go through the day undefeated and finishing the day on top of the standing while Paul’s team fell from contention after another close loss.
Day three was playing in 40 to 50km per hour winds reaching much with showers through out the day and gusts of wind of much higher speed creating havoc. Bruce’s team won all three games and finished the carnival as the only unbeaten team.
Geraldton Bowling Club should be complimented on the way the event was run as it was very well organised and the food supplied each day delicious. This is a carnival well worth attending. |
